Life In The Towers Films – a Citizen Journalism Project

During the summer of 2022, London Tenants Federation collaborated with Tower Blocks UK and film-makers Rainbow Collective to deliver a Citizen Journalism training project for social housing tenants.The project provided new skills for tenants to get their voices heard.Eight online Zoom teaching sessions were hosted by Rainbow Collective covering topics including storytelling, interview techniques, filmmaking styles, composition, filming techniques and voiceover recordings.One of the outcomes of the project was these three impressive short films.

1. A council tenant from Waltham Forest sets out his concerns about major works and fire safety on his block – Fred Wigg Tower.

2.  A West London council tenant’s negative experiences of  years of ‘regeneration’ and disrepair3. A Southwark council tenant interviews one of her local councillors on how communities come together in the borough.
