Should Tenants in Social Rented Homes Pay More Than Rate of Inflation to Build More Properties?

There are discussions taking place with the new Labour government and the social housing sector on how best to build more social rented properties. Reports are that the sector wants guaranteed funding in order to invest in house building. A rise of 1% above inflation on the rents of those living in social housing is mooted as a possible way secure funds. This will not work for various reasons.
