Quarterly Meetings Reports

February 2022

London Tenants Federation is bringing together representatives of tenants’ groups from across London to discuss and connect on several single issues including Estate Demolition, Building Safety, Fuel Poverty, Repairs & Major Works, Rents & Service Charges.

The Estate Watch network, exclusively for tenants of estates that are at risk of, or who are already experiencing, demolition of their homes was established (with Just Space) in 2020.

The other meetings were launched in February 2022.

We are also bringing together tenant representatives in our sub-regional meetings. Discussion topics have included gentrification, green space, housing stock, service delivery, transportation and infrastructure development. These issues might invite discussions comparing tenant strategies or support cross-borough organising that targets the Mayor and the London Assembly.

The purpose of the meetings is to facilitate dynamic, solidarity-based relationships between tenants with the ultimate goal being the amplification of tenants’ voices on the issues that impact them.

In total, these meetings were attended by more than 40 tenant representatives (some attending several of the meetings) from Barnet, Camden, Croydon, Ealing, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow, Southwark, Kingston upon Thames, Kensington & Chelsea, Haringey, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth, Westminster and Waltham Forest attended. They included council and housing association tenants’ representatives (from Guinness Trust, Metropolitan and Thames Valley, Optivo and Peabody) and members of three co-operative groups.
