On 23rd February 2023, tenant representatives from London boroughs with a Thames border came together to discuss how intensive development along the Thames over the past 40+ years has impacted their communities.

The riverside has long been home to working-class communities, in large part due to its relevance and proximity to working-class jobs/industries and its role as a major port of arrival. Tenant representatives shared their experiences living and working in riverside areas which have undergone drastic changes over the last few decades, and shared techniques for collectively organising to protect community interests. Both a report detailing tenant perspectives and the slides shared during the meeting are linked below.

This was the first sub-regional meeting of 2023. You can read about recent changes to our sub-regional meetings here. Please reach out to our Membership Development Worker, Sarah, at sarah@londontenants.org if you have any comments or questions.
